Musical tab

Seeing as i cannot write music, i have the musical tab sheet here below, the first signifies the piano tab, which in turn every 8th bar the piano 'key' changes either 2semi tones up or two semi tones down (semi tones on a piano are either one key up or one down so if the piano you hear is being played in the key of C, two semi tones up, would equal a D) the next picutre is a tab sheet of the violin, this is played always two semi tones above the piano key, 2 octaves higher than the lowest octave in the piano sheet.

Next is the drum sheet, from top to bottom the percussion is as follows.
Hi Hat
Floor Tom
Tom Tom
Snare
Bass Drum

Enjoy!

This was done by me, pretty much shows how simple it was to make music for my film.

Target audience research and planning

When finding out the right target audience for YOUR short film the first best thing to do would be to put together a questionnaire and then take a look at the feedback. The feedback from a questionnaire will give you the exact information you will want to know from the correct target audience, if asked the correct questions. Here are a few questions that may be asked on our questionnaire: (without answer options)

How old are you?
Male or Female?
Are you still under education?
How often do you watch a film?
What genre of film do you prefer?
What genre of film interests you?
Do you think murder mystery films build a lot of suspense?
Name 3 of the best thriller films you have watched?
Name your favourite film?
Would you enjoy watching a murder mystery?
Are murder mystery's boring ?
if yes, why?......

^^ this is an example of pretty much the questions we would need to ask in order to get answers for our target audience research.

The UK film council website helped gather bits of information that were useful to help us identify who are audience was, it was a very niche audience as not many people are interested in murder mysteries when drawn in by other interesting genre's of movie such as comedy, action, horror, sci-fi etc.....

Final draft refilm

Today, we decided to scrap the short film and make a music video of the song 'hungry like a wolf' by duran duran, using the 'mirror' webcam on 'photobooth' on the mac, using very homosexual gestures/vibes. Well thats a lie.

Well on our way to complete the final draft as well as the music to go with it, which that music production diary shall be up shortley. we have added a new ending, which is quite a surprise including a vast amount of sound design going in to it! although yet again it was filmed in the dark we still managed to get great shots to make the scene very intense to its murder mystrey climax!

Now all to do is ancillery tasks which should prove fairly easy as there are alot of murder mystrey or crime genres out there!
